Creating Meaningful Change 2002-2022

Our goal and our passion is to make a difference. Grieg Foundation grows in size and in commitment, in partners and in projects. We are humble and grateful for the dedication from our partners, our Board, our interns and the Grieg Group staff. Together we extend and enhance our tradition of giving back.

2022 has been a special year for Grieg Foundation. We celebrated our 20th anniversary and carved out a new strategy to create greater impact and contribute to more meaningful change.

When Grieg Foundation was founded in 2002, education for children and youth was the core purpose and main pillar. Education is the key to enable everybody to create a better future. Through long term partnerships with SOS Children´s Village, United World College Costa Rica, CARE, Norwegian Church Aid and Children at Risk Foundation, we have supported international projects to empower the most marginalized girls and ensure access to education and vocational training. Our commitment to education, especially girl´s education, continues to be a priority.

We need everybody. Everybody needs somebody. Projects and initiatives that give young boys and girls who need a little extra help to find their way, their talent and strength are a priority for us. We all need to belong and many of our projects have created meaningful arenas where young people get the chance to find a stronger foothold.

Local engagement sparks compassion and improvement in people’s lives. Our role is to empower visionaries, communities and organizations with ideas and a strong sense of purpose.

Music and culture spark creativity and strengthen communities and people through shared experiences. We supported many festivals and concerts this year. Together with Bergen International Festival, we fund an outdoor concert arena in the heart of Bergen with free concerts every day during the two-week festival. This is our gift to Bergen and will be the heart of the festival the next few years. The Grieg Art Collection is exhibited at Oseana, a cultural center and art gallery in Os, outside of Bergen.

Women´s health is another pillar in our purpose because this is an area where we believe our support can make a difference. For women in developing countries, it means the possibility to go home with their newborn babies. For all women, it means more research and better treatment to ensure better healthcare for women.

Another pillar in our purpose is restoring our oceans. The ocean connects our businesses, our people, our future and our past. We benefit from the ocean’s resources and have made it our priority to contribute to reviving our oceans.

Our goal and our passion is to make a difference. We are proud of our legacy and our footprints. In 2022, we donated over NOK 135 million and supported 80 projects. We plan to continue to grow and make an even bigger difference. We work hard every day to find the best projects and partners. Grieg Foundation builds on a tradition of giving back and a commitment to support those who come in our way. Together, we make the world a little better.
