LETTER FROM ELNA-KATHRINE GRIEG
The Importance of Compassion
2021 highlighted the need for compassionate societies. The pandemic showed us the importance of belonging and togetherness.
For generations, my family has contributed to a more compassionate society by supporting humanitarian, social and cultural projects that create meaningful change for individuals and communities. We believe that local engagement sparks compassion and improvement in people’s lives. Our role is to empower visionaries, communities and organizations who have ideas and a strong sense of purpose and commitment.
Education, gender equality and equal rights are at the heart of our purpose. We believe education is the foundation for change. Music and culture spark creativity and strengthen communities through shared experiences. The future depends on climate action and innovative health research. These are the pillars of our purpose because these are areas where we believe our support can make a difference.
In 2021, Grieg Foundation distributed NOK 47 859 800 and allocated 84 199 800 to projects within our purpose.
We are grateful to the Grieg Group employees for their dedication and daily efforts. They make Grieg Foundation possible. Thank you.
Compassion is critical to our overall well-being.
We are so impressed and proud of the flexibility, resourcefulness and compassion our partners showed during the pandemic.
A compassionate society is a society where we look out for each other and do our best to prevent suffering. Creating compassionate societies is a team effort. We can all take part and make a difference. Our commitment to create more compassionate societies is stronger than ever.
Best regards,
