“The Waves”, an Adapted Performance

Who: Makalaus Produksjonar

What:
The Waves, an Adapted Performance

Where: Bergen, Norway

Project period:
2025

About the project:

“Bølgene” is a sensory, underwater theatre performance, developed for children and youths with multiple learning disabilities and others. We will create a sensory performance, meaning the performance will be tactile, there will be music and we are aiming at communication more visually than with words. “Bølgene” will be performed at Det Vestnorske Teateret in 2026.

The production team consists of musicians, actors, a set designer and a lightning designer. An underwater experience: the audience will be surrounded by the ocean, we are at the deep sea and there will be creatures surrounding us. Imaginary creatures that human eyes have never seen before.

About the organisation:

"Makalaus produksjonar", established in 2024, is a theater company with the aim of creating sensory theater experiences for children and young people with multiple learning disabilities, autism, and other forms of support needs. "Bølgene" is the company’s first production and will be performed in collaboration with Det Vestnorske Teateret. The production will premiere in the winter of 2026 and will be developed throughout 2025. The initiators of the project are set designer Tora Troe and performing arts artist/producer Stine Svellingen.
