Friidrett for alle

Who: Hordaland Friidrettskrets

What:
Recruitment 2023

Where: Bergen

Project period:
2023

Hordaland Friidrettskrets (HFIK) will through our «school project» organize local track and field events for the pupils at elementary schools in the Hordaland area in the western part of Norway. We will offer various set of physical disciplines where the objective is to set focus on sports enjoyment – not results. Our organization will also arrange courses for teachers to gain higher competence for oursport - athletics, in the school system. The objective is a total of 15-20 sports day events and equivalent number of courses – in 2023. HFIK consists of 98 sportsclubs with approximately 8000 members. Totally our organization puts on about 400 sport events each year.

In addition to the “school project” we will meet the children at local shopping malls where we will create athletics events where the children can try different athletic events like 40 meters sprint, long jump and shot put – free of charge.

Our project is at high importance for recruiting more children to be active in our sport that is a low threshold offer. Our organizations vision is: “Athletics for all - through life”. Everyone can master our sport. Due to the pandemic and lockdown, there has been some apostasy. In a public health perspective, the project is very important, so that we can get the children back to our safe, social andincluding arena.
