Voantsinapy is an independent primary and secondary school teaching 480 pupils from vulnerable families in Antsirabe. With this project, they want to develop the pupils' digital competence by using laptop computers as educational tools. With laptop computers at the school, the digital training will expand and increase.

A competent teacher will provide the necessary training. In addition, we would like to subscribe to online resources that can promote language learning. Speaking English, French or Chinese in particular, can mean a huge difference in salary even for informal employment. The teacher and Pedagogical responsable Faniry Ranoroantra, who has a masters degree in Pedagogy and English, will cooperate with the school board in choosing adequate online resources.

Digital competence is important for lifelong learning. Each year, Rotary Gandsfjord in Stavanger gives scholarships to 18 female students with high school education. The digital competence aquired while studying at Voantsinapy will give these pupils great benefits if they later on become students at universities, in Madagascar or abroad. For working life, it is essential in all areas of employment to have computer skills. The elder pupils (5th grade and higher) of Voantsinapy will benefit from this project.

Regarding online language training, both English and French are important languages in Madagascar.  As a former French colony, French is the first foreign language, functional in business and adminstration. Several school books are also written in French. The pupils of Voantsinapy are taught in foreign languages, and the purchase of online resources and headphones will be a useful addition to the teaching staff.

Wifi and electricity can be unstable. For this reason, we also apply for support to expanded internet connection and solar powell installation.
