Repair, Reduce and Clean-Up
Who: Naturvernforbundet Hordaland
What: Three projects
Where: Bergen
Project period: 2024
Web: Naturvernforbundet Hordaland
About the organization:
The Naturvernforbundet Hordaland was founded in 1918, a few years after the main organization. It is one of the largest and most active county chapters within Naturvernforbundet. The chapter includes a county board, seven local groups, six full-time employees, and over 100 volunteers. All members work towards promoting sustainable solutions to the nature and climate crisis: a renewable and health-promoting transportation system, reduced consumption, environmentally friendly products, and the preservation of biodiversity and the magnificent nature of Hordaland. There is also a collaboration with the main Naturvernforbundet organization through three different projects
About the projects:
A good life with less things where people repair what they have, reuse and share rather than throw away and buy new things.
Through the project «Take care of what you have», Naturvernforbundet Hordaland works with a number of activities to promote repair and reuse. In 2024, we want to continue to promote a culture of repair, we want to work more together with others to help pull in the right direction and stagnate the rampant overconsumption while increasing the focus on reuse, sharing and reuse-policies. We want to contribute more knowledge to people about how consumer behaviour can create a more sustainable future: what can the individual consumer do, and what must be fought politically. We have a goal of reaching those who may not be so concerned with the topic yet, both through practical activities and through good dissemination and communication.
Plastjakten Hordaland 2023 (Plastic Hunt Hordaland 2023)
Goal
The project aims to prevent plastic pollution and reduce current plastic consumption.
We prevent plastic pollution and reduce current plastic consumption through:
Attitude-shaping cleanups that provide impactful experiences
Knowledge sharing that makes information about plastic reduction accessible
Advocacy work where we place plastic on the agenda in municipalities, counties, or businesses, challenging and providing knowledge-based advice from Naturvernforbundet's extensive experience with plastic issues.
Natural Inclusion
Goal
To facilitate increased nature knowledge and enjoyment for children and youth through an educational program in elementary schools and low-threshold hiking offerings with various themes.
In “Oppdrag blomstereng” (Mission flower field) the pupils join for a journey where they learn about plants, insects, and how these are interrelated. They learn how to collect seesd from native, wild flowers and how to make theire own flower field in the schoolyard.
The best way to learn about nature is to spend time in the nature. Therefor we offer easy accesible hikings in nature areas in and around the city of Bergen, open for everyone to join. The participants get to learn more about the forest, birds, insects and life along the coastline. We belive that if you get to know nature, you get engaged, and want to preserve it. On the plus side, time spent in outdoors is good for our health, and its a good way to get to know other people.
