The Goal
PUR Jazzkompani works to promote young dance talents from Vestland, to create opportunities for the dance artist of the future, and to promote competence sharing across the amateur and professional dance scene.
Description
PUR Jazzkompani is an investment program for young dancers, working to promote talents from Vestland and Jazz dance as a scenic art form. At the same time, the company provides a job opportunity for young choreographers, and a new type of cultural communication on the Bergen cultural scene. PUR works to create opportunities for the dance artists of the future and works to increase competence, and share competence, across the amateur and professional fields.
PUR Jazzkompani, established in 2016, has annual auditions and works towards an annual stage performance. The young dancers in the company work with professional and recognized choreographers towards the performance, and get the chance to experience how dancers work in a realistic job situation; giving them a unique learning experience. Dancers who have participated in the program continue to further dance education, both in Norway and abroad, and some of the dancers from the earliest years are today's scenic workers.
From an audition with over 50 participants, PUR 2023 consists of 9 dancers aged 17-21. This year they work with two different choreographers and their works; Tine Erica Aspaas ("Ash.Black.Pink") and Ane Evjen Gjøvåg ("Tail").
