The Vitality Center for Children and Youth at Haukeland University Hospital aims to increase self-efficacy and cohesion through physical activity and research for children and youth with disabilities. The Center is used across clinics and departments and by external users to provide a better range of activities. Fortunately, we have suitable premises for physical activity with a gymnasium, climbing wall, swimming facilities, and several treatment rooms. However, the fitness room for strength training, a treadmill, and an ergometer bike is limited.

In 2018 we rebuilt a conversation room into a fitness room. The fitness room is vital as it allows the therapist to exercise with patients and is accessible to the nearest relatives needing physical activity and training. We also enable employees to book the space for self-recreational training when available to secure a good working environment. To facilitate physical activity for children and youth related to the Center, reliable and functional equipment is crucial.

The Grieg foundations' funding allows us to upgrade the fitness room to a standard the users deserve. We will, among other things, buy a new treadmill and an ergometer bike. Their support is fundamental, allowing us to work towards altered health benefits for all users in demanding hospital life.
