The artistic organization Fargespill has been in continues growth since the humble beginnings in 2004. Today, the foundation consists of two ensembles in Bergen and Oslo, each with almost 100 children and young people between the age of seven and 25, with roots from around 35 countries.

Fargespill’s main activities are the stage performances, where young peoples’ stories are told through music, dance and rhythms from their respective cultures. However, the key to these energetic performances lies in the process leading up to the stage.

The Fargespill-philosophy is a resource-oriented method which focuses on the fact that everyone has something to give to the community. We ask «what do you have?», not «what are you missing?». Because the method is about how we meet as human beings, it has relevance in all contexts where relationships between people are important.

This is why Grieg Foundation has partnered up with Fargespill for a brand new pilot project. Over a two-year period, Fargespill will work intensively with one school to fully implement the Fargespill-method. Fargespill will spend time anchoring the goals and working methods with everyone from management, teachers, assistants, students, and cleaning staff, before working together to achieve the same positive culture Fargespill has managed to create as an artistic organization.

The goal of the project is for the Fargespill-method to have a visible footprint at the school and result in a changed culture for the way we look at each other and treat each other as human beings and, how students and staff interact with each other as a collective.
