WORKSHOPS WITH ABSENCE

Through a series of dance workshops for children and young people (ages 8-15) at DNS, the renowned breakedance crew Absence wants to teach their tricks and choreographies to younger generations. There will be a total of 30 participants. One group for children between the ages of 8 and 12 and one group for those between the ages of 12 and 15.

Since their humble beginnings as teenagers spinning around in the youth clubs in 1999, the members of Absence have spent over two decades creating their own style, combining breaking, acrobatics, comedy and acting. This has resulted in a unique way of telling stories. Together with DNS they have created several theatrical performances and toured all over Norway since their first co-production in 2011.  In 2019 they made «Circus Absence» with DNS and Jo Strømgren, a physical theatre piece about a broken circus with a greedy director, and how they reclaimed their greatness and rid themselves of tyranny.

Now Absence will let a bunch of eager youth take a shot at joining the circus, through three days of workshops and then a showcase for family and friends, at the main stage at Den Nationale Scene (4.-6. May).
