Vedholmen Gallery, situated in the archipelago in Bjørnafjorden, with a picturesque view of the Folgefonna glacier in Hardanger, has been a constant in promoting contemporary art for 24 years. In 2024, our focus sharpens on spotlighting female artists through a series of exhibitions. This year's agenda includes three solo exhibitions and a delayed collective exhibition consisting of eight female artists. The overarching aim is to tackle the prevalent gender disparities within the art world.

 
 

The support received for 2024 goes to, contemporary artists Rita Marhaug, Line S. Hvoslef and Ida Helland-Hansen are all having solo shows in a duration of six weeks. The participating artists span a diverse range of mediums, including performance, graphic art, painting, photography, video, sculpture and textile.

 
 

With the important economical aid from Grieg Foundation Vedholmen Gallery prepares to unveil its 2024 exhibition program, anticipation is high for the impactful narratives and thought-provoking artworks that will grace its space. Through this concerted effort, we hope to contribute to a more equitable and inclusive art world, where the contributions of female artists are celebrated and valued on par with their male counterparts.
