About the project:

Presenting the project The generous donation from Grieg Foundation to Harmoniens Venner will be an important contribution to our activities. The main purpose of our organization is to promote interest and knowledge about classical music. The support will contribute to more activity doing much of the same actions Harmoniens Venner has put effort into for a long time, but increase and start new activities as well. We hope and intend to increase the audience attending concerts in Grieghallen, including more young people taking part. We intend to contribute to the musicians´ activities - professional and social – and thus enhance the orchestra´s attraction towards new top qualified musicians. A campaign recruiting new members to Harmoniens Venner, especially younger persons, will be one important part of the project. We will make new membership material. It is a challenge to reach potential new members and public through social media. Harmoniens Venner must be visible on different media platforms. Recently, one of our new board members has solid knowledge and experience about these channels. Accordingly, the organization is prepared to strengthen our work on this issue. We plan to cooperate more with representatives for the musicians getting to know how our activities can support the orchestra.

About the organisation:

Presenting the organization The organization Harmoniens Venner has roots back to 1765 when Musikkselskapet Harmonien was established. The organization is a voluntary association, and has approximately 500 members. The chair of Harmoniens Venner is a member of the board “ Stiftelsen Musikkselskapet Harmonien”. The organization has a stand in Grieghallen during Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra´s concerts where we inform the public about the orchestra´s and our own activities, invite to become members, and promote and sell the orchestra´s CDs. We produce and distribute our news bulletin “For dine ører” twice a year to our members. This is distributed free of charge through Bergen public library and regional libraries as well. We issue news from the orchestra´s activities via our website and through Facebook. We give free entrance to the orchestra´s concert rehearsals 4-6 times a year. We travel to some concerts abroad enjoying Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra perform in Europe.
