Light in the Dark is a project about community and human closeness, in a time of many expectations and many feelings in motion. In Bergen and Stavanger city, there will be held 3 "highlights": a dinner, a cultural experience and a creative workshop. The project wants to contribute to ensuring that children and young people in vulnerable life situations have good, safe and at the same time important experiences in the winter months.
The winter months, and especially December, are difficult for many people. Perhaps especially for children and young people who have a difficult time at home. It is a time with a lot of focus on family and community, that’s glamorised on television and in social media. In many ways it can feel like a time when everyone should be happy and safe. Through the project, Forandringsfabrikken wants to focus on people and human warmth, rather than on expectations and pressure.
Through the project, young people in vulnerable life situations can:
Feel valued and important
Feel that they are taken seriously through being seen and heard
Be part of a physical community
Practice being with many others, even people they don't know (this can for
many be helpful to practise on, especially after the pandemic)
Get a lot of energy and human warmth from the activities
Our goal is for the young people to take this with them further, even after the project has been completed.
