The project

Promoting the formal and non-formal education for Adolescents project aims to combat the post covid19 education crisis through extending access to both formal and informal education opportunities for vulnerable adolescent girls and young women.

The Goal

The main goal of the project is to improve learning outcomes and the economic wellbeing of girls and young women through scholarships, support and skilling for employability. We aim to scale existing programmatic elements of Girl Up initiative Uganda’s in-school interventions around skills-building and entrepreneurship in education, while at the same time providing scholarship support for girls at risk of dropping out of Primary school.

The project will be implemented in the underserved urban slum communities of Kampala District in the Central part of Uganda and in the last-mile rural communities in Bukedea District in Eastern Uganda. We envisage that this project will contribute to a vibrant group of highly educated girls and young women who are economically secure and have agency. In the long term the project will contribute to an empowered population of girls and young women in Kampala and Bukedea Districts challenging stereotypes in education and economic factors. The project is currently at the initial phase.
