About the organization:

PUR Jazzkompani was established in 2016, by Nina Henriksen, Ane Evjen Gjøvåg and Iselin Guldbrandsøy. They had an aim to increase the oppotunities for young dancers in Vestland and a desire to elevate jazz dance as a scenic art form. At the same time they wanted to strengthen the dance field in Vestland through good recruitment and talent development.

About the project:

PUR Jazzkompani is an investment project for young dancers with special talent in the jazz dance genre. PUR works to increase competence and share competence across the amateur and professional fields, and aims to be a step stone in the education of future dancers. PUR works to promote young dance talents in Vestland, create a proffesional arena for development and unity in training, and at the same time promote jazz dance as a scenic art form. The company wants to provide young dancers with a learning arena of high artistic and professional quality, giving them a taste of the life of professional dancers and hopefully inspiring them to continue with an education in dance. PUR holds auditions once a year, and the company works with recognized choreographers towards a yearly performance. In 2024 PUR had 9 dancers in the company and worked with two pieces from the choreographers Kristian Vindenes and Ane Evjen Gjøvåg. The dancers had intensive rehearsal periods with both choreographers and the yearly show was held at Fana Kulturhus.
