Who: Skodvin Skulemusikk (school music)
What: With the project "LørdagsKorpsKick" Skodvin Skulemusikk wants to create a musical community arena for all the Band in the region
Where: Bergen
Project period: 2024
About the project:
With the project "LørdagsKorpsKick" Skodvin Skulemusikk wants to create a musical community arena for all the Band in the region. In our region, we have the best school and amateur bands in Norway, but many school bands still experience challenges related to recruitment and retaining young people in the critical youth phase. Our amateur bands also experience that it can be difficult to bring musicians from school bands to the amateur bands. As of today, there is no arena where all our band musicians meet and listen to each other across generations. We want to allow the young aspirant aged 9 to meet the band musician who is still around at the age of 80+ or the band musician who has taken his hobby to an elite level. We want to create a low threshold offer and an informal arena where the joy of the band is created through the desire to play for each other. We also want to reach out to a wider audience by inviting to a different band experience. The joy of bringing together several generations in different bands, will create many fine moments for the audience.
About the organization:
Skodvin Skulemusikk is a school band from Alver municipality in Vestland County and is connected to Skodvin Montessori School in the village of Hundvin with approximately 500 inhabitants. The recruitment base is relatively small, but the band has in all years been a good contributor of musicians to amateur bands in the municipality and the surrounding area. Eikanger-Bjørsvik Music Band, Manger Music Band, Oster Brass, Lindås Brass are bands that have and have had musicians who have played in Skodvin Skulemusikk. The band has participated in all the Norwegian championships that have been organized by the Norwegian Association of Music Bands for school band brass. Skodvin Skulemusikk works continuously to increase enjoyment of playing, understanding of interaction and skill in communicating.
