About the project:

The Passion for Ocean Festival is a homage to the sea that will be held at Marineholmen the 1st of June 2024. With a mix of ocean based activities, interactive marine science installations, and thought-provoking entertainment, we aim to enlighten and excite the people of Bergen. Passion for ocean summer camp is aimed at kids aged 8-12 years, with a full week of ocean exploration. Our goal is to give kids a free, safe, educational and active summer camp. We want to spread knowledge and dedication to take better care of our oceans, through teaching children about it

Goal:

The goal of the festival and summer camp is to spread passion for the ocean among the general public of Bergen through a blend of knowledge, curiosity and engaging activities

About the organization:

Passion for Ocean (PFO) Bergen represents a local branch of Passion for Ocean organization, seated in Oslo. Our mission revolves around building knowledge, appreciation and passion for the ocean. Our platform is dedicated to increase the understanding about marine life, address the challenges facing our oceans, and advocate for responsible ocean stewardship. We firmly believe that as awareness about the ocean grows, so does the collective love and commitment about its well-being. Our guiding principle is simple: “You take good care of what you love”. Consequently, by educating individuals about the ocean, we empower them to become effective advocates for its preservation. This knowledge equips citizens with the understanding of why and how they can play a role in safeguarding our marine environments. PFO Bergen was established in 2022, and has grown into a team of 16, excluding volunteers. In 2023 we hosted the Passion for Ocean festival in Bergen and a summer camp for children during the summer. Both activities were successful, with the festival attracting over 2000 visitors, and hosting 80 children at the camp made possible by funding from Grieg foundation in 2023
