Passion for Ocean (PFO) Bergen is a local branch of the umbrella organization Passion for Ocean seated in Oslo. We are a movement with a goal to spread knowledge, appreciation and passion for the ocean. Through this work we want to create a better understanding about living creatures in the ocean, the challenges our ocean is facing and how we can take better care of it. We believe that increasing our knowledge about the ocean also gives appreciation and passion for it as well. Our motto, directly translated, is: “What you love, you want to take good care of”. Hence, learning about the ocean will make a citizen capable of taking better care of it, both because this citizen knows how and why they should take care of it.

We spread passion for the ocean through hosting free festivals and summer camps for kids. The Passion for Ocean festival in Bergen is held at Marineholmen on the 3rd of June. With a mix of ocean based activities, interactive marine science installations, and thought-provoking entertainment, we aim to enlighten and excite the people of Bergen. The summer camp for kids will run in week 31 and 32 in Marinehallen, with the goal to spread passion for the ocean to young children at the age between 8 to 12 years, through knowledge, curiosity and fun activities.
